Hardcover. Etat : Fair. Etat de la jaquette : Dustjacket included. First Edition. ISBN . B0006AW4T4 Hardback. First Edition as stated on the copyright page with Harpers code Code M-1 below that. Book is a Tight sound copy with some rubbing and wear to its edges and a very light waterstain to the upper right corner area of the book, , but pretty much a tight sound reading / reference copy only due to being an ex library copy with the usual ex library faults, card pocket, spine label, ink stamps, etc. On the plus side, there is no outer edge stamping, so the book looks pretty decent when viewed from the outside, with the blank tan spine label being the only ex library mark visible from an outside glance. Dustjacket is present and in pretty nice shape overall with the only ex library mark being a blank tan label on the base of the spine, not as distracting as most such labels as there is no printing on it and it matches the actual dustjackets tonal value nicely. $3.50 original price is present and unclipped on front dustjacket flap. The dustjacket has been placed in a Brodart protective cover by us to protect it and it looks much better than described. . This does not affect the dustjacket in any way, as all taping is done on the outside of the protector. No Signature.

Hardcover. Etat : Near Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Very Good. 1st Edition. Harper & Brothers. New York. 1960. 240 pages. First Edition, first Printing in original DJ. First Edition stated with Harper's M-I code (translation: December 1959) despite its 1960 publication date. Binding and hinges are strong. Illustrated endpapers are bright and clean. Pages lay tight and undisturbed; seemingly unread. Panels are bright and clean; as is cloth binding and titles. 4 sharp corners. Original DJ with $3.50 price intact on DJ flap. Some rubbing/soiing to rear of DJ. One small chip at crown of DJ sits in the middle of a small, faint tape ghost. Faint old tape ghosts along folds (faint.) This novel has twice been adapted; once for the Alfred Hitchcock Hour and once for a French film starring Gerard Depardieu. More recently there has been talk of a third adaptation involving Matt Damon; who not so coincidentally brought Highsmith's Tom Ripley to life in the 1999 film adaptation of The Talented Mr. Ripley. The Sweet Sickness remains one of Patricia Highsmith's more elusive first printings; in a DJ no less. And when you do locate one; good luck finding one in near-fine condition; they are near-impossible to find. An exceptional offering of this first edition, first printing; in original DJ. NF/VG+.
