Bound in full black cloth with silver lettering stamped on spine. Old bookseller's tag on rear pastedown (Vroman's, Pasadena). In a photo-illustrated jacket that has minor wear at head and tail. Despite accolades from fellow writers, Norman Lewis remains an unjustly neglected travel writer. Of Lewis, Graham Greene wrote, "I have no hesitation in calling Norman Lewis one of our best writers, not of any particular decade but of our century." Cyril Connolly wrote Lewis "could write about the back of a bus and make it interesting." VS Pritchett said Lewis, "really goes in deep, like a sharp polished knife.".
