Small hardback. Mrs. Nibble, the mother rabbit, has a lovely birthday picnic given by the human mother in the story. All the animal friends from Blackberry Farm are there. Very bright clear colours, almost like pochoir. The UK Brockhampton series began in 1949 with Emily the Goat. The McKay US reprints are not in the same order. Following the first six Blackberry Farm books with green boards published in 1954 were two sets of three titles each with red boards published in 1955, (dates, from library records in Worldcat , may have appeared on later printings) The Birthday Picnic is one of the first set of three.
